When We Are Closedclosed_sign

The out of hours service operates from 18:00 until 08:00 Monday to Thursday and from 18:00 Friday until 08:00 Monday.

If you require urgent medical attention outside the practice opening hours, please telephone the Lothian Out-of-hours Service on 111.

Upon contacting the Out of Hours Service you will be asked for your name, address, telephone number, doctors name and address and details of any medication that you are taking.

An experienced nurse will assess your symptoms and provide advice.  Depending  on the outcome of this  assessment by NHS 24,  you will either be seen by appointment at one of the out-of hours centres which are located across Lothian, or when necessary, in your own home.  Sometimes a doctor will call you back to discuss your problem further.

If you telephone the practice number out with opening times you will automatically be diverted to the service.

Please note that this is not a walk in service.

The nearest Accident & Emergency Department to  Haddington for adults is the New Royal Infirmary, Little France, Edinburgh. Children under the age of 13 should be taken to the Royal  Hospital for Sick Children, Sciennes Road, Edinburgh.

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
