Remote Consulting

REMOTE CONSULTING

During the current COVID-19 outbreak we are trying to use remote consulting as much as possible to minimise the number of patients who have to attend the surgery face to face.  We are using a mixture of telephone and video consultations where possible although are still seeing patients in the surgery if necessary.  We have had to adapt rapidly to the changes COVID-19 has forced upon us so please read the notes below.

This page has been created to store all the information relating to remote consulting.  It is not intended that patients use these methods to contact the practice unless they are requested to do so.  If you need advice or an appointment please contact the practice by phone and only use the information below if advised to do so by the practice.

Emailing

If after discussion with your GP, you are asked to email photographs to the practice, these can be sent to the address below.  Please do not use this email address unless asked to do so.

In the subject line of your email please type -   FAO:  Dr ...... (insert requesting clinicians name).

Within the email message please include your initials and date of birth to enable us to match the photographs with your medical records.

Photos.TMP@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk

It is important to be aware that E-mail is not a secure method of communication and in normal circumstances we would not use e-mail to communicate with patients.

Upon receipt, your photos will be saved and stored in your medical records by a member of our admin team.  The photos will then be passed to your clinician for review.  The email containing your photographs will then be deleted.

By emailing photographs to the practice we will assume that you are giving consent to the processing and storage of these photographs.  Do not forget to delete the files from your own device, unless you wish to keep them for your own reference.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact reception on 01620 823 183.

Video consulting

Video consultations will be arranged by your GP if after a telephone consultation it is decided it would be helpful.  The following is an explanation of what is needed to access the service and a link to the virtual waiting room.  Please do not connect to this service unless you have been asked to do so.  Only patients who have been asked to connect to the video consulting service will be answered.

If you have any problems joining the video call the Doctor will call you back on your usual number.  Reception is unfortunately not able to help with any technical queries.

Please do not share the link to the video consulting as this is specific to patients from Tyne Medical practice only. Only calls where an appointment has been made with reception will be answered.

We hope you find the video consultation a helpful option.

Best wishes

Tyne Medical Practice.
